How Does Invisalign Work?

Invisalign is different from traditional braces in that it uses a series of plastic aligners to push the teeth into proper alignment.

The orthodontist will start by taking x-rays and impressions of your teeth. From there, they’ll create a set of custom aligners for your mouth. You’ll switch to a new set every couple of weeks until the end of your treatment, which can take anywhere between 12-18 months, depending on the alignment of your teeth.

Invisalign vs Braces

Invisalign has several advantages over traditional braces. For one thing, they’re virtually invisible. In other words, you can wear it without feeling self-conscious about your smile.

Not only that, but they’re removable, which means that you can brush your teeth as normal after eating. The aligners themselves are also much easier to clean than metal braces.

Finally, there are no food restrictions. You can eat anything you want—just take out the aligner before you eat!

How Much Does It Cost?

Treatment can cost anywhere from $3,000 to $7,000. At the end of the day, it depends on various factors such as your location and the amount of work that has to be done.

In contrast, traditional metal braces are typically cheaper with a price range of $2,000 to $6,000.

Is It Covered By Insurance?

Some dental insurance plans cover Invisalign treatment under orthodontic care. This can greatly reduce the amount that you have to pay out-of-pocket.

For example, some policies may cover up to 50% of the costs.

Saving On Invisalign Costs

See if there are any dental schools in your area—they may offer services at a discounted rate. Don’t worry, the dental student will be supervised by a board-certified dentist.

You can also ask your dentist for a payment plan. That way, you won’t have to pay the entire bill all at once.

Enhancing Your Smile With Invisalign

Hopefully, that gives you a better idea as to how much Invisalign costs. As you can see, there’s no fixed price. After all, it differs from case to case—your orthodontist should be able to give you a rough estimate.
