Do you want to travel to the Bahamas?
After being stuck in quarantine for more than a year, everyone is eager for a vacation. If you’ve been looking to visit the Bahamans, then you’re in luck. The government of Bahamas issued a travel advisory for visitors to follow.
This article covers the documents you need, safety protocols, and other rules to follow. Continue reading and find out the things to know before you travel to the Bahamas.
Do You Need a Passport to Travel?
“Do I need a passport?” Yes, you do. Whether traveling by air or sea, you won’t get past the border without a passport.
Ensure the validity of your passport before leaving to prevent issues. Check if you have two blank pages you can use for the entry stamp. US travelers staying up to 90 days will not need to present a tourist visa.
However, if you’re coming from outside of the country, you will need to secure your visa. You can visit the Bahamas without a passport if you take a closed-loop cruise. You only need proof of citizenship and a government-issued ID, but it’s still best to bring a passport in case of emergency.
Procedures to Follow
You need to submit a travel health VISA application before visiting the country. It includes health insurance for your stay.
Vaccinated visitors need to show a negative result of either a PCR or Rapid Antigen test. Present a PCR test if unvaccinated. You should take the test at most five days before you arrive in the Bahamas.
Unvaccinated travelers visiting for more than four nights and five days need to take a rapid antigen test on the 5th day. Contact the testing center beforehand and ask for vital information. Find out their operating hours, cost of testing, and others.
Where to Stay?
The government issues a Clean & Pristine certificate to accommodations following the safety guidelines. Ensure your accommodation practices social distancing and wearing of a facemask. They should display signages summarizing the policies everyone needs to adhere to, too.
It also helps to look for reviews and read feedbacks from previous visitors. Not sure where to start? Consider booking for your stay here.
Visiting Places
Wear your mask inside the vehicle throughout the trip and leave the passenger seat empty. Restaurants serve both indoor and outdoor dining, following regulations. However, each island has different restrictions, so ensure to do your research before visiting.
It’s all right not to wear your facemask on the beach if you keep your distance from other travelers. If you’re in a crowded area, policies require you to put on your mask. Failure to abide by this rule will lead to a fine or a worse penalty.
